Top 15 All Natural Deodorants That Work Nutrition Stripped

I did the dirty work for you so you could sit back, smell good, and get on with your day. I tested some of the most popular brands of all natural deodorants on a couple measurements; #1 how well they smell, #2 how sweatproof they are (after walking around Nashville in the summer) and working out, #3 how they feel on your skin, and #4 price point. For all of these, my top favorites from the bunch are the first top 5. The rest were good-great and still recommended depending on your access and price point. I hope this helps save you time and the awkwardness that is body odor. Here are my Top 15 All Natural Deodorants That Work!

– The Top 5 –

NATURAL BEAUTY | natural deodorant

No. 1: Soapwalla Deodorant Cream

  • My absolute go-to, I LOVE this one. It’s like a lotion/cream you rub on

No. 2: Schmidt’s Natural Ylang-Ylang + Calendula Deodorant

  • I’m a sucker for the essential oil ylang-ylang so this one’s great- similar to Soapwalla

No. 3: Weleda Citrus Deodorant

  • This one is great for those of you don’t want to fuss with lotion, a quick spritz and you’re good!

No. 4: Dr. Hauschka Sage Deodorant

  • The smell of this one is amazing, herb-y with florals.

No. 5: Fig & Yarrow Underarm Lotion

  • Love this lotion as well, the only down-side is I’ve had issues with the spray bottle, so I unscrew the lid and use it like that, still great

No. 1: Dr. Hauschka Sage Deodorant

No. 2: Honest Co. Lavender Vanilla Deodorant

No. 3: Le Couvent Des Minimes Everyday Deodorant

No. 4: Blissoma Scentless Stick Natural Deodorant

No. 5: Iwilla Remedy I Love My Armpits Deodorant

  • Hi McKel! Thanks for doing this! Just wondering if by “how sweat-proof they are” you mean working as an antiperspirant? I want a natural deodorant that doesn’t leave me feeling wet under my arms when I start sweating or when its hot out. Let me know if you have the answer!

  • Great products–would love to try them all!

  • Thank you so much for this article. It couldn’t have come at better timing. I have been wanting to go “au-natural underarm” for ages now and made the error of trying coconut oil on its own. As you can imagine it wasn’t great and I’m so excited to give some of these a go!
Thank you from the UK 🙂

  • Kate

I’ve just been doing a lot of research on this very topic. So far I’ve had great luck with the Schmidt’s in the Bergamot & Lime scent. It was 99 where I live yesterday, and it held up pretty well, though I did use some powder before heading out to dinner just to dry things out a bit. I’ve also tried Honestly pHresh’s unscented cream deodorant (a sample from an Eco Emi box) and it also worked fine, but seemed to make one armpit a bit itchy and is slightly grittier than the Schmidt formula. The true test will be when I resume running next week!

  • chicpammy

Love Herban Cowboy is great as well (all scents work). Did you try that one?

    • I didn’t try that one- love the name, I’ll have to try that but I found my favs for the summer 😉

  • Jannett

I currently use Fig and Yarrow ‘s underarm lotion and I love it but the citrus spray and the roll on in your top five sound good, I might give them a try. Thanks for sharing

  • Bette

So, I assume everyone knows a deodorant isn’t an antiperspirant — a deodorant just masks or combats odor, it doesn’t prevent sweating. With that said, my favorite natural deodorant — and the only one that works for me so far — is Crystal. It has one ingredient — potassium alum — which inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. It has no fragrance and is not sticky or wet. You moisten the crystal w/ water and rub it on. Simple. Extraordinarily economical. And effective!

  • Andrea

Thanks for this! I have another one, I found a lot of natural deodorants haven’t worked for me…and I end up stinky by noon. Unfortunately the Schmidts didn’t work for me. But we have a store in Canada called Saje Natural Wellness, they specialize in essential oils but I bought their spray on deodorant and it works amazingly….It’s definitely a winner for anyone in Canada!

  • Amanda

Soapwalla is definitely my favorite! The only thing I have noticed, though, is that it does take some time to get used to. A lot of people break out or dry out a lot for the first month or so.

  • Susan

Thanks for all of the suggestions, McKel … it’s been tough to find an effective natural deodorant, that lasts!

My absolute favourite to date, however, is Living Libations Underarm Charm:

For the cost, you will likely be shocked at the size of the rollerball tube (so tiny!), but you only require a little swipe or two under each arm, and it is TOTALLY effective. I truly never have to worry or even bother to check if it’s wearing off!

It is ultra natural and the scents I have tried (Rose & Petal) are soft and pretty … I have actually received compliments on the way I smell, when I’m wearing nothing else!

I have tried many natural deodorants, but have never found one as effective as Underarm Charm – two little swipes last me for 2 full days – no odour whatsoever!! I’ve been using it for several months now and it’s showing no signs of losing its potency on me, as happens with most others I’ve worn.

I highly recommend it to everyone!!

    • I haven’t tried that one out! Thanks for the suggestion I love rose scented anything 🙂

  • Liz

I’ve been using Pit Putty by Bubble & Bee ( for almost 10 years and love it! They’re all organic, have just 3 ingredients, are basically edible, and made without baking soda (since it irritates alot of people, though she does offer some WITH baking soda for extra deodorizing). She has the most amazing scents; lilac is my favorite!

  • Celine

Lavilin is definitely the best all-natural deodorant for body odor. Can’t think of a single deodorant that has done a better job killing odors than Lavilin!

  • Penny

I’m looking for an effective antiperspirant. I’ve used natural deodarants for years and years and NONE of them worked. Recently I discovered Black Chicken and was over the moon to discover that it was all natural AND it works!!! However, I have now been told that the clay in it does in fact contain aluminium so now I’m back to square one. Can somebody help. I need something that will last ALL day and no BO.

    • You’ve come to the right list! My favorite out of the bunch is soapwalla- it’s amazing!

  • Heather

Give Ursa Manor deodorant a roll. It is the best I have yet to find (or make)…and I have tried many. Also love it is has a piney scent that also appeals to my husband.

  • Heather

Give Ursa Major deodorant a roll. It is the best I have yet to find (or make)…and I have tried many. Also love the piney scent that also appeals to my husband.

    • McKel Hill

      Great suggestion, thank you Heather!
