If you enjoy what we call popsicles here in the states, you’re in for a treat (ha pun intended). Today, I launch a full week of recipes for my beloved paletas (a.k.a. popsicles, ice pops, ice blocks, freezer block, ice lolly, lolly ice, etc.). The first one I share today is probably my favorite out of the bunch soon to be shared, Pineapple Mango Cayenne. Let’s end summer with a bang… or a full week of Nutrition Stripped Paletas!
What are paletas? Paleta originated from Latin American and they’re typically made with fresh fruits or cream bases. Fresh fruit used in paletas are endless, the cream-based paleta’s includes milk or in my versions they’ll include coconut milk and possibly avocado [sneak peak]. The possibilities are endless when making paletas!
Sweet. Hot. Tangy. Three flavor combinations that create a party in your mouth, am I right? Today’s paleta is one of my favorites Pineapple Mango Cayenne. It’s a tropical feel with these sweet fruits and also a little heat from the cayenne. Don’t be afraid of the cayenne, even if you’re not a fan of this spice, you can limit the amount to your desired tastes but I promise it’s worth a try as it creates a great balance of hot and cold in one bite.
Cayenne is one of my favorite spices where I find myself constantly adding to dishes for a boost of spice. Not only is it great to add heat, warmth, and spice to foods, but it has quite amazing health benefits including metabolism boosting effects, anti-inflammatory, aiding in healing/preventing stomach ulcers, cardiovascular, clears congestion, and immunity benefits due to high concentrations of vitamin A (beta-carotene)! Not to mention the pineapple and mango both have high amounts of vitamin C combined with more health benefits from pineapple.
