Overnight Oats, Three Ways | Tropical Mint, Berry Chia, Blood Orange

Hey everyone! I’m excited to share with you all today a highly requested cooking video and group of recipes! The perfect quick & easy breakfast on the go or for a busy week at home – Overnight Oats, Three Ways. These recipes encompass some of my favorite varieties of the quickest breakfast or snack to plan ahead of time.

Plan ahead breakfast

Overnight Oats, Three Ways | Tropical Mint, Berry Chia, Blood Orange

Tropical & Mint

1/2 cup rolled oats + 1 cup homemade almond milk + 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup + 1/2 kiwi fruit, chopped + 1/2 mango, diced + hemp seeds and fresh mint to garnish

Berry & Chia

1/2 cup rolled oats + 1 1/2 cups homemade almond milk + 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup + 1 cup blackberries + 1/2 cup blueberries + chia seeds to garnish

Citrus & Blood Orange

1/2 cup rolled oats + 1 cup homemade almond milk + 1/2 tablespoon maple syrup + juice of 1 lemon + 1 blood orange + bee pollen and pinch of sea salt (optional) to garnish

    Can you use steel cut oats as well? If so is it the same measurements?

    • I haven’t used steel cut oats for this recipe, you could use them during soaking, but I would still recommended cooking afterwards!

    To avoid getting tired of plain overnight oats, I do a variety, for example- apple pie a la mode; diced apples, cinnamom, vanilla bean, agave, and hemp seeds.

    I love the video, nice setup, recipe etc. My only “complaint” is I wish you would look at the camera. It would give more a feel of talking to ME (me me me! I know, but still…)
    I love the blog, btw. Your post about cuppow finally made me try bringing my meals in mason jars, and I’m never going back to plastic ever again!

    Hi there!

    I was simply wondering, for the third variation, if you put the lemon juice and blood orange the morning after (when the oats have soaked the almond milk) or the night before (when you first put the oats with the almond milk).

    I make a version to the chia berry most mornings. But I use a lot of chia seeds. 1/4c of oats and 1 T chia seeds with my berries and I add a big spoonful of nut butter, so,etimes cashew sometimes almond.

    Recently I’ve been making oat milk with a date thrown in. I love how creamy it is in my oats and the sweetness from the dates means I don’t have to add the maple syrup. What do you think abou oat milk I never see on health blogs. Thoughts?

    • That sounds delicious Ashley! Oat milk is great, I personally don’t use it because it’s easier for me to make and get a hold of almond milk- and I just enjoy the flavor more. Oat milk is also higher in carbohydrates in comparison to nut/seed milks. Hope that helps!

    Can you use oat groats or buckwheat groats in place of rolled oats?

      Yes, you can although I would recommend that you rinse the buckwheat really well before you soak it in water or almond milk! Also you can check out this blog post on soaking and sprouting too- xxM
