This is another feature on Products I Love November 2013 edition! I don’t do these reviews every month, so at each review I try to share with you a round-up of all the products that I’ve tested that I feel are great and worth recommending. Oh football season, weekends spent engaging in activities prepping for the big game, playing corn hole outside (if you don’t know what this is, it’s a midwest/southern thing), pong of some sort, drinking beverages, and eating copious amounts of foods while socializing with friends and family. You may be thinking, these behaviors above don’t necessarily sound too “healthy”. I’m here to tell you, they can be! Take a hint from Brutus the buckeye- he still maintains his fit figure while having fun tailgating all football season long (wink, wink).
If you’re not familiar with tailgating, basically it’s creating a space where you can hang out before a football game often filled with drinks, food, TV’s, tents, games, and of course rowdy friends and fellow football enthusiasts. Tailgating doesn’t have to be singled out to the parking lot at the actual football event. In college, tailgating happened everywhere and anywhere there was a group of people with one thing on their mind “FOOTBALL!”.

Moroccan Quinoa Stuffed Roasted Red Peppers are not only a perfect portable lunch or dinner, but are also great for leftovers. These are a perfect recipe to make or even double for several people on your Batch Cooking day, to help save time spent in the kitchen throughout your busy week. This is also a fantastic way for you to get the little ones or picky eaters alike to eat their vegetables (yey for vegetables!). The texture of the fluffy quinoa filling with the soft roasted red pepper is perfection in a perfect package, not to mention a cleaver way to use portion control with carbohydrates!
The star of the show here is quinoa (KEEN-WAH). I use quinoa in many recipes of mine and what a more perfect way to introduce it to Nutrition Stripped with one of my favorite recipes using quinoa, stuffed red peppers! Classic stuffed red peppers have ground beef sauteed with peppers, onion, spices, and occasionally topped with cheese. I’m putting a spin on this classic recipe and making it vegetarian friendly with a kick of Moroccan spices, but also giving meat eaters alike the flexibility to add in what they choose- great for everyone in the family.

School is back in motion! Did you know approximately 17% of children aged 2-19 in the United States are obese, which has steadily increased over the past 30 years? There are so many variables in creating this horrific statistic, but we all can start with providing healthy foods to our children, encouraging play time, keeping mindful of what the school systems are offering, and creating a fun and healthy environment around food and body image for these little ones. Today I’d like to share with you several quick and easy tips on how to keep your kids lunch boxes filled with the right goodies. Keep in mind what you’re feeding your children before, during, and after school is going to help them not only mentally feel great and focused for the day, but also physically healthy to enjoy and engage in activities of interest!
This post today isn’t about childhood obesity (I’ll save that for another day)- this is a general road map to get you started on small steps around the home and away from home to ensure your little one is making healthy choices.
