One of the most frequently asked questions I receive about smoothie recipes or my smoothie bowls is about superfoods or protein powders I use. I’ve had this huge review in mind to personally taste test as many vegan/plant-based protein powders I could get my hands on, and today this post is the result of it. This Guide to Plant-based Protein Supplements, is not a review of whole food sources of protein (check back at my Q&A post for some of those sources), but a review on protein supplements.
We’re nearing the end of the month (which I can’t believe!), and I always love sharing with you all some of my favorite products or resources I’ve come across this month. Today, I wanted to drop a brief post and share the new cookbook from fellow food blogger and veggie lover Angela from Oh She Glows! I’ve been a fan of Angela’s since first getting into the blogging community as well as vegetarian lifestyles. If you’re not familiar with Angela, she’s the brains and creative cook behind vegan food blog Oh She Glows where she shares all things delicious recipes.

Let’s just take a moment away from reality and dream of white sand beaches, warm breezes, and cool ocean water, all while enjoying this Tropical Superfood Smoothie Bowl. Today I’m sharing with you all a variation of my Stripped Green Smoothie Bowl using delicious tropical sweet fruits with some of my favorite “superfoods” on top. I don’t know about you and where you’re located, but here in Nashville it’s been cold, rainy, and a bit gloomy. Couple that with my admiration of spring and summer (what can I say, I’m a Cancer girl), this smoothie was the perfect way to bring me into a summer moment. As we’ve talked about before, smoothie bowls have been my favorite thing besides just drinking my smoothies. They’re super thick and creamy, filled with raw fruits and veggies, superfoods, healthy fats, and plant-protein. It’s designed to be a meal in a bowl- and a delicious one at that.
Vitamix vs. Blendtec, it’s one of the most common questions I receive from readers about which blender to purchase when making their awesome smoothies. The vitamix and I go way back… about 8 years back! My Vitamix was a Christmas gift from my parents in college that I begged them to get for me, which made the happiest girl in the world when I opened it up that Christmas morning. It’s been a part of my daily meal planning and preparing whether in the form of making my Stripped Green Smoothie every morning, nut butters, homemade almond milk, hummus, salad dressings, soups, and much more.
You could see my loyalty with Vitamix and why I’ve loved this machine for all my cooking needs throughout the years. Today I wanted to share with you, my opinion (as un-biased as I could be), with the two most well known high speed blenders- the Vitamix and Blendtec. Blendtec was incredibly generous to offer me the Blendtec model to try since I’ve never tried any other high speed blender besides the Vitamix with success for my blending needs. Let’s just say, I was a very happy tester.
